What Does Sisterhood Mean to Me?

People ask us all the time, “what is The Sisterhood?” In one word, it wouldn’t be able to be defined. The Sisterhood Outdoors is not a word or a phrase but a mindset.  Everyone has a different reason for joining the  Sisterhood: experience, support, or skills. We want everyone to have a fun and safe environment to be the best sportswoman they want to become. We strive to be open and welcoming for ladies with all ranges of experience levels. Our standards are unmatched in the industry. We are not here to become famous or attention seeking.  We truly want the best experience and growth for all women hunters who come to us. We use the phrase “you have to give it away to keep it.”.  The Sisterhood Outdoors team wants this generation and the future generations to have an industry that is welcoming and supportive to all who want to be a part of it.

My First Experience with a Sisterhood Event.

On my event with The Sisterhood Outdoors, I did not know what I was really wanting to gain from it. My first hunt was a duck hunt at Reelfoot lake. I remember driving there and telling my husband I wasn’t so sure that this was something I wanted to do. By the time I left, my mind had changed drastically. I learned I wanted to do more and be involved. I wanted for other women to feel like they had a place to go to be themselves and not hide behind husbands, fathers, or brothers who go them into hunting or fishing in the first place.

Joining the Pro Staff Team.

A year later I was brought onto The Sisterhood staff, and I was ready to make a difference. Each person I come in contact with now through The Sisterhood Outdoors I try to share the message and the brand and encourage each person to become everything they want to be…Become the sportswoman they want to be. With more and more women coming into the industry and feeling comfortable in their own skin, it will soon change the statistics of the male dominated industry. I wanted change; I wanted to belong. I just had to take a leap of faith to get there.

Now, 7 years later, what does The Sisterhood mean to me? It is family, a sense of purpose, an escape from reality, a sense of belonging, a haven, The Sisterhood is everything. When I leave an event, my cup is full. I feel uplifted and ready to make more changes. I want women to experience what we get to on each trip.

Changing the Future for the Next Generation.

Every time I think years down the road and imagine what I want for my daughter…It is everything that The Sisterhood has to offer. I look forward to her learning and thriving in the most fun, safest, and comforting environment that is offered. My hope is that she and every little girl out there will keep changing the face of the industry like we are trying to do at The Sisterhood.

Well said Linley! I joined the sisterhood not just to hunt or fish but I joined to meet and make new friends and help build/mentor the next lady generation hunter!

This is Beautifully said and I agree 100%!

I can personally say I have experienced the immediate feeling of belonging and empowerment from the sisterhood events and hunts I have attended. I now look forward to going to SO events to meet other women who enjoy the outdoors and to learn from them/share my experiences/expertise with them.

I feel blessed to have found such an Amazing all womens organization that focuses on individual personal growth and not personal fame.
